The city of Newport is renowned for its Gilded Age mansions, including The Breakers and Marble House. After walking the vast grounds, take an oceanfront walk along the cliffside before stopping into The Chanler at Cliff Walk for lunch (cocktails recommended).
If the weather’s nice, consider a sunset or sightseeing boat trip around Newport. Otherwise, browse along Thames Street or relax at The Vanderbilt, Auberge Resorts Collection, a 1909-era mansion-turned-luxury hotel. Brunch at Castle Hill Inn’s The Lawn is also highly recommended (Tip: get the lobster roll).
