We had a reservation at California Grill for 7:30 p.m., which we chose purposefully so that we would be able to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks display. We were presented with an amuse-bouche of prosciutto and creamy cheese on toasted bread as we watched the sun set over the lagoon. The bread service followed, during which we dipped warm herb-covered rolls in a mix of olive oil and sun-dried tomatoes. We hadn’t even been served our starters yet, and our stomachs were rumbling with hunger .

A wonderful dish is the braised beef short rib wontons served in a spicy chili sauce with pickled lotus root and radishes, which I’ve been eating for years. I couldn’t resist ordering it, so I also tried the sushi my husband and friends had ordered. The verdict? Everything about the meal was excellent, from the Chardonnay to the Riesling and Cabernet each dish was accompanied by.
