The wolf was shot by a hunter in Austria’s Allentsteig military training zone. This is the second wolf to enter Czechia from Allentsteig. The first was at the end of 2019. Nature conservationists at Šelmy got an email from their Austrian counterparts in early May 2021.

“We have good and bad news for you. Another wolf is on his way, and he’s a male who just received a telemetry collar two weeks ago,” the Austrian counterparts informed.

He first went to Trebic and Namestovo, where he stayed for several days near the local military airport. Military bases are closed to humans, making them ideal habitats for wild animals.
