Ultimately, effective on-site hotel pricing amounts to a significant increase for a couple reasons. To begin, many Walt Disney World hotel rooms are already booked for the off-season, forcing us to pick regular travel dates. We looked at numerous combinations of dates before deciding on a 5-night stretch in mid-May 2022 with Pop Century, Coronado Springs, and Contemporary Resort all offering standard rooms. (Caribbean Beach was our first choice for a Moderate Resort; however, we were unable to secure a reservation.)

Second, because Walt Disney World has not yet provided general public discounts in 2022, it isn’t currently offering room-only rates. In a typical year, the general public could save up to 30% on room-only offers or take advantage of the Free Disney Dining Plan promotion at various times throughout the year.

More hotels may open up, which will make booking lower-cost nights more feasible, and they’ll increase the likelihood of further discounting in late 2022. However, neither of those things is true right now. As a result, there was a big rise in on-site hotel rates for 2022 as opposed to recent years’ averages.
