11 – Dining
The in-depth knowledge about each of the restaurants at Walt Disney World that My Disney Experience offers is one of its finest characteristics. An immediate sense of what the ambiance in a restaurant will be like can be obtained from descriptions and photographs.
You may also search through the selections to discover whether any of them appeal to your taste buds. This information makes the planning process more pleasurable, as you compare each restaurant’s menu choices against those in your group.
The dining reservations open up and allow you to make bookings for each day of your trip (up to 10 days) 60 days before your arrival date. So guests staying longer have a better chance of getting coveted reservations because they get earlier access to the days being booked. You can start booking restaurant reservations on both the website and the app at 6 a.m. ET, and the hot ticket restaurants fill up fast, so be as persistent as possible. To make a reservation, go to the App’s “My Plans” area and search for “reserve dining.”
Another feature of the app is the ability to make restaurant reservations using Mobile Ordering. Guests may use their mobile phones to order food and beverages, pay, and advise the restaurant when they are ready to pick up at a select Disney World quick-service location. This service allows visitors to skip the regular line for ordering and waiting for their meal. Please keep in mind that most restaurants now require Mobile Ordering and may not have a standard queue.
Finally, a new application function is the ability to check if there is any walk-up dining. Not only can you see future reservation times, but you may also determine whether any restaurants have availability for the walk-up list by clicking on the current date and selecting “now” instead of choosing a specific hour of day. The app will then show any restaurants that are available. This is an excellent feature since it allows you to look for food without having to go out and check in at a desk; it saves time.
