Dreadlocks are a fashionable and meaningful hairstyle that has been worn by people all around the world. If you’re afraid of your hair while it’s short, it’ll be much simpler to grow out full locs later on. You may either make your dreads with a brush or twist them with a comb. You can start your dreads before your hair is even an inch long if you use the correct methods and materials.

  3. Make small circular motions with a soft bristled brush. In a clockwise manner, paint small circles until the hair starts to form into balls. This should only take a few seconds. When a ball of hair is formed, move on to the next section of hair to continue creating dreadlocks throughout it.[1]
  • The brushing approach is most effective for medium to coarse hair that is approximately 3/4″ to 2.5″ (1.905 cm – 6.35 cm) in length.
  • You may also use a sponge brush to create dreads and curls in someone’s hair, since it is designed particularly for this purpose.
  • Using a sponge brush often works better on short hair than using a bristle brush.
